General Housekeeping & Friendly Reminders to Get 2025 Off To A Great Start

It goes without saying that we've been slammed this holiday. Through the chaos, we've let a few policies slide, but wanted to bring these to your attention to ensure everyone is following the proper guidelines and procedures.

Collect Your Hangers

If you sell apparel (or an item that uses a hanger), please collect your hangers the next time you're at the market.

Please note:
  • Any hangers that are left in the backroom after December 31st, and that are not clearly marked with a business name or logo will be tossed.
  • Effective January 1, all hangers must be clearly marked with your business name or logo. If not, your hanger will be given to the customer at purchase or tossed if the customer doesn't want it.
Tracking Your Inventory

As a reminder, you are required to have inventory quantities correctly listed in your ConsignCloud account. What you have on the sales floor should be what you have listed in ConsignCloud.
  • While we are able to still ring up these items, please note it does hold up the line as there are a few extra steps we have to take in the POS to process the sale.
  • If you are offering your items on the Belleville website, items will not appear as available if your items are showing as out-of-stock when they're actually not. Likewise, if you are showing that your items are in-stock when there are actually none in your selling area, there is a risk that an online customer will purchase and there won't be any stock to pull from.
January is a great time to do an inventory of your selling area to ensure quantities in your selling area match those that are listed in your ConsignCloud account.

Manual Sales

Like correct inventory quantities, anything in your selling space should properly be listed in your ConsignCloud account. We've had several cases where merchants are bringing in items that may have barcodes/prices, but items have not been entered into ConsignCloud. When this happens, we're forced to do a "manual sale" which leads to a lot more time and effort on our backend. If this problem continues, please note we may enforce the Inventory Services Fee which is $5.00/per occurrence.

Barcodes

Barcodes are extremely helpful to keep us organized, ensure items are ringing up correctly, and keeping the lines moving so our guest services team can quickly process transactions.
  • When you print barcodes, please ensure they are being printed correctly.
  • Do not resize or manipulate the barcode. If the barcode is "squashed" together, our scanners cannot read it.
To save time and to keep operations running smoothly, we strongly suggest bringing up a few items when you're restocking to ensure your barcodes are acceptable.

REUSING BARCODES: Additionally, do NOT attempt to reuse barcodes from previous items for new items. When you attempt to do this, it will cause the wrong item to ring up in the system. We may not always catch this at the point of sale, resulting in customers being charged for the wrong item and offsetting your inventory.
Thank you in advance for your help!

We thank you for your attention to these matters. If there have been ongoing issues, we will reach out individually to ensure that everyone is getting 2025 off to a great start. Otherwise, don't hesitate to email us with any questions or concerns. merchantsupport@bellevillemarket.com
