Tips For Maximizing Sales in January

It's no secret that January is traditionally the slowest month of the year for retail, but that doesn't mean you can still have a successful month.

Here are just a few tips for maximizing sales during January:
  • Fresh Inventory - customers are ready for a change of pace from the holidays. Offer them fresh, new items that will help them take their minds off of the winter doldrums. January is the perfect month to introduce new items. Many customers have just received gift cards for Christmas that they are anxious to redeem.
  • Clear Out Old or Seasonal Product - Customers are also looking for bargains, and January is traditionally one of the months that most retailers use to get rid of dated and/or seasonal products. Have leftover Christmas items that you won't be repeating in the new year? Mark those items down! Been sitting on inventory for more than six months? Put those items on clearance to generate some cash flow to help you buy new items for your customers to enjoy. On average, you should be turning your inventory at least 4 times a year. So if you have something just sitting there collecting dust, get rid of it. Your space should be treated as a shop, and not a museum.
Motion is Money - even if you don't have fresh, new inventory to add, you can still entice customers by rearranging your space and making it look new. If the same items have been in the exact same space within your booth for more than a few months, you are doing yourself and our guests a disservice. We have a huge base of regular customers, and they get tired of seeing the same things in the exact same place from visit to visit.
