Merchants are expected to exercise reasonable care when working within Belleville Market and when interacting with the merchandise, fixtures, and property of other merchants.
If a merchant damages another merchant's merchandise, display fixtures, or property, the responsible merchant is expected to compensate the affected merchant through replacement, repair, or reimbursement, as appropriate.
Examples may include:
- Breaking or damaging merchandise while stocking or merchandising
- Damaging another merchant's fixture during a move or installation
- Causing damage during move-ins, move-outs, or major restocks
- Negligent handling of another merchant's property
Whenever possible, Belleville Market management should be notified promptly so the incident can be documented and a resolution can be facilitated.
We encourage merchants to communicate professionally and work collaboratively toward a fair resolution. If necessary, Belleville Market management may assist in mediating discussions between merchants.
Maintaining respect for fellow merchants and their property is an important part of being a member of the Belleville Market community.
