Merchant Code of Conduct

Merchant Code of Conduct

Just like our guests and customers, our Merchants are the heart of our business. That’s why we don’t take being the face of your businesses lightly. Likewise, as a Merchant, you become the face of Belleville Market. The way you treat Belleville Market staff and customers is a direct reflection of us.

Belleville Market is committed to conducting our business in accordance with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Merchants are expected to share our principles and uphold our standards.

Merchants will likewise operate their businesses within the Market with integrity, in an ethical manner, and in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.

At Belleville Market, we instruct our staff that our guests come first. As a Merchant who may spend time within the Market, we expect the same level of superior customer service from our merchants. For example, if you’re working in your unit and a customer asks you a question about the Market that you’re unable to answer, politely locate a member of staff to assist the customer.

Merchants who are working within their units should maintain professionalism when conversing with other merchants and Belleville Market staff. Merchants making private phone calls while working in their booths should refrain from using their speaker phone option, and maintain their professionalism during such conversations.

Belleville Market respects individual and cultural differences and will not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind, and expects its Merchants to share that commitment. Merchants will treat others with dignity and respect. Physical abuse, the threat of physical abuse, sexual or other harassment, verbal abuse or any other form of intimidation are prohibited.

If a Merchant is found to be in violation of this Code of Conduct, Belleville Market may terminate your lease with cause.
