Merchant Hold Shelf Guidelines

Merchant Hold Shelf Guidelines

To help maintain an organized, accurate, and elevated sales floor, Belleville Market utilizes a designated Merchant Hold Shelf, located just outside the restroom area.

Purpose

The Merchant Hold Shelf is used by Market Staff to temporarily remove items from the floor that require attention. This may include:
  1. Items missing tags or pricing
  2. Broken or damaged merchandise
  3. Items requiring clarification or merchant review
  4. Any product that cannot remain on the sales floor in its current condition
Process
  1. Each item placed on the shelf will include:
    1. The date it was removed
    2. The merchant name (when identifiable)
    3. The reason for removal
  2. While our team will make every effort to notify merchants directly, this is not always possible in real time.
Merchant Responsibility

To ensure your inventory remains accurate and your space reflects your brand standards, merchants are expected to:
  1. Check the Merchant Hold Shelf during each store visit
  2. Promptly address any items belonging to them
  3. Retag, repair, or remove items as needed before returning them to the floor
Holding Period
  1. Items will be held for 30 days from the date noted
  2. After 30 days, unclaimed items will be donated or discarded
Consistent attention to the Merchant Hold Shelf helps maintain the quality, presentation, and overall experience of Belleville Market for both merchants and guests.
