Purpose
Belleville Market operates using a merchant license model rather than a traditional landlord-tenant rental structure. Monthly license fees support the operation, maintenance, staffing, marketing, and overall customer experience of the Belleville Market environment.
This guideline outlines billing expectations, payment timelines, and account requirements related to monthly merchant license fees.
Monthly License Fee
Each Anchor & Showcase merchant is responsible for payment of their monthly license fee as outlined in their Merchant Agreement.
Monthly license fees are due on the first day of each month.
Unlike some shared retail environments, Belleville Market does not deduct monthly license fees or related account charges from merchant sales payouts. (Commission fees and offsets may still be deducted in accordance with merchant agreements and payout policies.)
Auto Pay Requirement
All merchants are required to enroll in automatic payment (Auto Pay) for monthly license fees.
Auto Pay helps ensure:
- Timely payments
- Consistent account standing
- Reduced administrative delays
- Simplified billing management
Belleville does not charge any additional fee for Auto Pay enrollment.
Monthly Invoicing
Invoices for monthly license fees are issued on the 1st of each month.
Merchants are responsible for:
- Maintaining accurate billing information
- Monitoring invoice delivery and payment processing
- Notifying Belleville of any payment or billing issues promptly
Failure to receive an invoice does not waive payment responsibility.
Late Payments
Monthly license fees are considered late if payment is not received by the 5th day of the month.
A late fee of $50 may be assessed for overdue payments.
Repeated late payments may result in:
- Account review
- Temporary suspension of merchant privileges or services
- Additional account requirements
- Further action as outlined in the Merchant Agreement
Communication & Billing Support
Merchants experiencing billing issues, payment delays, or account concerns are encouraged to contact the Merchant Support team as early as possible.
Open communication allows the Belleville team to better support merchants and maintain account standing.
