Weekend Merchandising & Work Restrictions

Weekend Merchandising & Work Restrictions

Weekends are the busiest shopping days at Belleville Market. During these peak times, maintaining a clean, organized, and easy-to-shop environment is essential to providing a positive guest experience and supporting strong sales across the Market.

To ensure consistency and minimize disruption, the following standards apply:

What Is Not Permitted on Weekends

Major work within your selling space is not permitted on Saturdays or Sundays, including but not limited to:
  1. Large-scale restocking or full inventory resets
  2. Moving fixtures, shelving, or displays
  3. Buildouts, installations, or structural changes
  4. Moving into or out of a selling space
  5. Any significant reworking of your layout or merchandising
This applies to all major activity — even if it is quiet. Work does not need to be loud to be disruptive; visual clutter, blocked access, and active reworking of a space can negatively impact the shopping experience.

What Is Permitted

Light, minimal maintenance is acceptable, such as:
  1. Small restocks of a few items
  2. Straightening or minor adjustments
  3. Replacing individual items or filling small gaps
All activity should be quick, discreet, and non-disruptive to guests.

Scheduling Guidelines

Major Restocks

  1. May be completed during merchant hours (store closed) or
  2. During weekday business hours when traffic is lighter

Buildouts, Fixture Moves, and Space Changes

  1. All buildouts, major floor moves, fixture moves, move-ins, and move-outs must be scheduled in advance with Merchant Support
  2. These projects must be completed outside of customer shopping hours

Additional Restrictions

  1. There may be times outside of weekends when Belleville Market management restricts restocking or other in-space activity, such as during special events, high-traffic promotions, or other peak business periods.
  2. Merchants will be notified in advance whenever possible and are expected to comply with these temporary restrictions.
Planning ahead and coordinating with our team ensures your work can be completed efficiently without disrupting the sales floor.

Why This Matters

Maintaining a calm and cohesive sales floor during peak shopping times:
  1. Improves the overall guest experience
  2. Helps customers shop more easily and comfortably
  3. Increases sales potential across all merchants
  4. Reflects the professional standard of Belleville Market
A disruptive environment—whether from clutter, active restocking, or construction—can lead to missed sales and a less enjoyable visit for customers.

Enforcement & Corrective Action

  1. Belleville Market staff may ask merchants to pause or stop work that is disruptive during peak hours
  2. Work that has not been scheduled in advance (where required) may be denied or stopped
  3. Repeated violations may result in corrective action or offsets applied to the merchant account
  4. Management reserves the right to restrict or reschedule work that does not align with these guidelines

Summary

Weekends are for selling, not resetting.
  1. Major restocks: Weekdays or merchant hours
  2. Buildouts & major changes: Must be scheduled in advance
  3. Additional restrictions: May apply during events or peak periods
We appreciate your partnership in keeping Belleville Market a welcoming, well-merchandised, and easy-to-shop destination.
