To maintain accurate inventory, clear sales reporting, and a consistent guest experience, all items picked up by customers at Belleville Market must be purchased through an official Belleville Market sales channel — including custom and special orders.
What Is Not Permitted
Merchants may not:
- Sell items through their own website, social platforms, pop-ups, or other retail locations and allow customers to pick up those purchases at Belleville Market
- Use Belleville Market as a pickup or fulfillment location for sales processed outside of Belleville systems
- Accept payment off-platform for items intended to be picked up at Belleville Market
This guideline explicitly includes custom orders, made-to-order items, and special requests, even if:
- The item was discussed directly with the customer
- The item was commissioned, customized, or produced after the initial request
- The item is not part of regular on-floor inventory
If a customer is picking up an item at Belleville Market, payment must be processed through Belleville Market.
Clarification on External Sales
This guideline does not prohibit or restrict merchants from selling through their own sales channels, including their own websites, social platforms, pop-ups, or other retail locations, so long as fulfillment does not involve pickup at Belleville Market. Merchants are free to offer shipping, local delivery, or pickup at their own studio or retail location for those sales. This policy applies only when a customer intends to pick up an item at Belleville Market, in which case the purchase must be processed through an approved Belleville Market sales channel.
Approved Sales & Pickup Channels
Items eligible for in-store pickup must be purchased through one of the following Belleville-approved channels:
- In-store POS at Belleville Market
- BellevilleMarket.com
- Belleville-issued digital invoice or approved payment link
- Any other Belleville-approved sales channel communicated by Merchant Support
All sales must be properly entered into Belleville Market’s POS and inventory systems prior to pickup.
Why This Policy Exists
This policy ensures:
- Accurate inventory and sales tracking
- Proper merchant payouts and accounting
- Clear loss-prevention documentation
- Smooth guest experience at pickup
- Operational consistency for Guest Services staff
Processing sales outside Belleville systems creates delays, confusion at pickup, and increases the risk of inventory discrepancies.
Enforcement & Corrective Action
- Items identified as off-platform sales intended for Belleville pickup may be returned to the sales floor or withheld from release to the customer.
- Repeated violations may result in offsets applied to the merchant account or additional corrective action.
- Belleville Market reserves the right to deny pickup for any item not sold through approved channels.
Best Practice
If you are offering:
- Custom work
- Special orders
- Commissioned pieces
and the customer wishes to pick up the item at Belleville Market, coordinate with Merchant Support in advance to ensure the order is properly entered and paid for through Belleville systems.
