Showcase Merchandising & Guidelines

Showcase Merchandising & Guidelines

We strongly encourage our Showcase Merchants to make these spaces reflective of their brand. Signage and branding are a very important first step. Make sure our customers know who you are!

Be creative with your displays. Consider including decorative backing, shelf liners, props/decor, risers to give your product depth and dimensions, etc. All decor must remain inside the footprint of your bookcase, and should not extend above or beyond the sides of it.

Please note that because the backs of the bookcases are merely a thick cardboard, nothing should be DIRECTLY adhered to the backs. This is very likely to cause damage to the backing, and could result in the loss of your security deposit. Additionally, nothing should be nailed, screwed, or stapled to any part of your showcase unit.

If you deal primarily in smaller items and feel that you could use additional shelves beyond the four adjustable shelves that are standard, simply inquire with a member of the Belleville Market administrative team. There is a possibility that we MAY have additional shelves available for your temporary use.

Avoid empty shelves by all means. This is unappealing to customers, and the less merchandise you have to offer, the less you will sell, of course. Quite often we see merchants leaving the very bottom shelf of their showcases empty. Please avoid this practice as well. If you are not going to use it for the display of merchandise, consider using it for additional branding or place an attractive basket there with some backstock of your items.
